BIMCO website wins “Best information Experience” award

Overview

BIMCO celebrates in London at the User Experience UK Awards.

BIMCO is proud to have won the award for “Best Information Experience” for our rebranded website: www.bimco.org at the User Experience UK Awards on Thursday 9 November in London.

Angus Frew, Secretary General and CEO said:

This award is in recognition of all the hard work of our BIMCO team and the hundreds of members who helped us in the new website development process. Without their invaluable support, we would not have been able to create a website that reflects what the users, our members, require

BIMCO’s decision to rebrand and launch a brand-new website in 2016 was based on member feedback. Members reported that they used the BIMCO website regularly, the information was needed and they relied upon it in their work, but they also found the old website confusing and difficult to navigate.

The category BIMCO was shortlisted for was “website or service in any industry which presents information clearly, in an easy to access way and functions with good user experience”.

The previous site had over 300,000 pages, wasn’t as fast as the members required and the search function needed to be improved.

Throughout the two-year rebrand process our members were heavily involved in testing and sharing their observations and feedback.

Frew added:

We are proud of our new website and we achieved what we set out to do - to enhance the user experience. But, we still need to improve it in numerous ways, and the data gathered from how users in fact navigate on the site, will inform those improvements

Members direct feedback is crucial to the ongoing success of the website, so please email us with any comments you have.

VPS Bunker Alerts

Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) publish regular Bunker Alerts based entirely on fuel samples and have kindly permitted BIMCO’s Members to access this information.

The Bunker Alerts are not intended to be an evaluation of overall bunker quality in the port or area concerned, but usually highlight a specific parameter within the fuel which has raised a quality issue.
