Since March, when COVID-19 was declared a pandemic, the BIMCO port information database has been publicly open and free to use. However, as the virus gradually retreats and a new normal is expected, the general port information – including holiday information – will once again be limited to BIMCO members.
Following the early reports submitted to the World Health Organization (WHO) in January, BIMCO made the decision to collect and share information on the impact of COVID-19.
The outbreak was declared a pandemic by WHO on 11 March. To mitigate the impact on shipping caused by the following sudden precautious measures applied by ports and administrations, BIMCO decided to provide the maritime industry with free access to its extensive port information database. This decision was made possible due to the timely approval from IHS Markit, who has been providing a considerable amount of information to BIMCO.
Starting 18 June, access to general port information will be restricted to members only, while free access will be limited to COVID-19-related material, including the below pages:

Veritas Petroleum Services (VPS) publish regular Bunker Alerts based entirely on fuel samples and have kindly permitted BIMCO’s Members to access this information.
The Bunker Alerts are not intended to be an evaluation of overall bunker quality in the port or area concerned, but usually highlight a specific parameter within the fuel which has raised a quality issue.
