The Bills of Lading Online Seminar consists of six sessions conducted over three days, each lasting 140 minutes with short breaks in between. The seminar focuses on the practical aspects of Bills of Lading (B/L) within the context of various essential documents required for international trade transactions. The seminar covers international conventions and highlights the crucial role of B/L for all stakeholders involved in cargo transactions.

What will you learn?
The Bill of Lading is at the core of international trade. The course focuses on common issues in B/L disputes (such as claused B/L’s, general average, LOI’s and liens) as well as on how this is legally dealt with worldwide. The seminar is highly practical and focusses on practical solutions to common B/L problems.
On the first day of this training program, you will head straight into the complex web of commercial contracts that form the foundation of international trade. This followed by a session on how the contract of sale relates to INCOTERMS, the connection between the contract of carriage and the bill of lading, and the insurance contract's role in managing risks.
This is followed by sessions where we review the key players in international transport operations, including owners, charterers, carriers, freight forwarders, and NVOCCs and how each party has different commercial requirements and demands. Equipped with this understanding, you will explore topics like international cargo conventions, bill of lading functions, and carrier responsibilities. Each session builds upon the last, offering a comprehensive grasp of the complexities inherent in international trade and transportation.
