Nakagusuku Wan forms the S half of Kin-Nakagusuku Port. The oil berths are situated on the W side of the bay as follows: NIPPON SIKIYU REFINERY, at Kuba Point, can accommodate tankers of up to 28,000 tdw. A jetty extends 1,100 m SSE from  the refinery and terminates in a berth 360 m in length with depths of 12.2-15.8 m (40'-52') alongside. A short buoyed channel with depths of 15-20 m leads NW to the berth. NANSEI SEKIUY REFINERY, which is situated 4 miles SSW of Kuba Point, provides the following tanker berths: An SBM is moored 2 miles offshore in a depth of 22 m (72') and is designed to accommodate tankers up to 270,000 tdw. Berthing takes place by day only, whereas unberthing and departure at night are allowed. Start of unloading is also restricted to day-time. Two floating 16" cargo hoses with 16" 150 lb flanges extend from the buoy which is connected to the refinery by a 42" submarine pipeline. Crude oil is handled at rates of up to 11,900 m3/h. Max. back pressure 10 kg/cm2 CRUDE OIL WASHING PROCEEDURES (COW). Masters, who want to carry out cargo discharging with COW, must send application via agent to the port captain well in advance.
