Tides and Currents The tidal rise is normally 0.3 m and at spring tide 0.5 m. During strong E or SE winds the water level may be raised up to 1.6 m (5') above normal. The tidal stream is mainly felt at the seaward end of the canal, where it can attain a rate of 3 knots.
