BIMCO Technology Partnership Programme

Part of our commitment to assist members with their digital journeys

The shipping industry is progressively using digital technologies and solutions to increase competitiveness, create new business opportunities, drive innovation, and improve operational efficiency and resilience.

Many of BIMCO’s members are small to medium-sized companies that often lack the resources to evaluate and adopt the right technologies to benefit their businesses. BIMCO recognises the importance and value of joint ecosystems and interoperable solutions that seamlessly integrate to avoid digital islands where systems operate in complete isolation.

BIMCO is a digital content provider and has published an open standard data set for electronic bills of lading for bulk shipping.

The Technology Partnership Programme is aimed at technology companies in the maritime sector. Companies that are part of the programme are those who are currently working together with BIMCO or who we are discussing the possibility of:

  • Integrating their solutions with BIMCO’s digital products
  • Licensing BIMCO content
  • Adopting BIMCO data standards.

Membership of the Partnership Programme does not imply BIMCO's endorsement of any product or service.

The Partnership Programme offers technology companies the opportunity to integrate their solutions with BIMCO digital products and use our digital content.

  • Integration with BIMCO Systems: Partners will have the opportunity to connect their solutions with BIMCO’s SmartCon contract management tool or Ship PI (Performance Indicator) system and other BIMCO digital products
  • Collaboration: Partners will be welcome to collaborate on developing BIMCO’s open digital standards
  • Technology neutral: BIMCO welcomes solutions from across all technological spectrums, fostering a diverse and inclusive ecosystem.

  • Added value: The partnership must add value to the end-user
  • Complementary: Integration should complement and enhance the functionality of digital products from BIMCO and partner companies
  • Innovation Commitment: Partners should strive for continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Non-endorsement: Joining the programme does not imply BIMCO's endorsement of any product or service
  • Standard terms: BIMCO offers a fair and transparent partnership framework providing discoverability and promoting interoperability
  • Non-binding: Joining the BIMCO Technology Partnership Programme is non-binding. Any commercial arrangement between the partners will be subject to a separate agreement.
