The USCG Ballast Water regulations entered into force 21 June 2012 and have been enforced more intensely over the past years leading to close to 700 deficiencies and more than 20 enforcement actions ranking from warning to fines. All owners and managers are urged to ensure that any ship calling US ports are in compliance with the USCG Ballast Water regulations and any applicable state regulations.
