The BIMCO Liquid Cargo database is intended for use by for shore-side staff and to some extent for newcomers to the tanker trade and should only be used as a reference tool providing brief information regarding the more than 330 of the commonly transported liquid cargoes including Resin oil, distilled

Trade name/synonym name: Coumarone oil; DRO; Distillates(petroleum), steam cracked, C8-C12 fraction; Distilled resin oil; High DCPD Resin oil

Tank Type 2G
Relevant additional IBC req.

Tanks inerted or padded Not required by IBC

Prewash required? No prewash required by MARPOL Annex II.

Tank cleaning:
Ambient temperature water wash
Hot temperature water wash
If next cargo requires very clean tanks: warm temperature freshwater wash added cleaning additive (hydrocarbon remover)
Ambient temperature freshwater rinse

Emergency Response: Fire: Use foam or water spray - not water jet
Spillage: Eliminate sources of ignition. Collect small spills with absorbent material. Larger spills: Try to collect and transfer to spill tank or wash away with water. When in port, - inform Port Authority

First aid: Remove victim to fresh air. Follow first aid instructions in MSDS. Consider obtaining advice from Radio Medical

Hazards (Occupational safety etc):
This product contains several minor components that have demonstrated toxic effects. Obtain specifications. Wear gas tight chemical protection suit and self-contained breathing apparatus when handling cargo spill and when there is a risk of getting into contact with cargo liquid or vapour

Precautions: Stable flammable product, Possible dangerous reaction with oxidizing material such as for example nitric acid.

Remarks: Strong odor - difficult to remove. Not recommended to be carried prior to sensitive cargoes.

Resin oil is used to produce hydrocarbon resins. Major applications of these resins are in printing inks, hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives, rubbers, paints, varnishes and road marking paints. Furthermore, the resins can be used in concrete curing additives, sealings, floor-tiles, foundry core binding and for paper sizing.

The BIMCO Liquid Cargo Database contains information for more than 330 cargoes, all updated to the IBC Code 2021 amended requirements, but in order to ensure that the BIMCO Liquid Cargo Database information is kept updated, we highly welcome any feedback in the form of comments, response, information or data regarding a specific cargo.
