What’s on the agenda for the next meeting of the BIMCO Dry Bulk Cargo Network

Published: 20 August 2024

Diving into MARPOL Annex V discharge regulations on solid bulk cargo residues and Group C cargoes that can liquefy – coming up in the 3rd network meeting for members on 29 August.

The BIMCO Dry Bulk Cargo Network is beginning to take its form with the attendance of regular members at the last two meetings where friendly discussions and open conversations were had.

The topics chosen by the network members for the next agenda are:

  • Materials harmful to the marine environment (HME), MARPOL Annex V & Discharge of Cargo Residues
  • How to categorise Group C cargoes that can liquefy under the IMSBC Code.

Issues such as understanding the shipper’s responsibility and obligations under the IMSBC Code and MARPOL Annex V for HME cargoes, the HME criteria, discharge criteria of cargo residues and problems with Group cargoes that can liquefy will be covered too.

Many members have found the network meetings to be useful, giving them a forum to discuss issues they encounter in daily operations. These discussions then lead to decisions about the agenda for future meetings.

Date and time of the next meeting:

Thursday 29 August 2024 07:00-08.30 UTC
Online using Microsoft Teams

Meetings are neither recorded nor minuted, and take place in accordance with the Chatham House Rule*

Owner members – do you want to join?
