We provide our members with direct access to advice from BIMCO experts on contracts and commercial issues such as charter parties, bills of lading and laytime.

Managing payment risk

Recovering millions of USD for BIMCO members

Each year, BIMCO recovers several million dollars of undisputed debt for our members via our intervention service.

Members who are owed money - be it an owner having problems obtaining payment of freight or demurrage or an agent or broker having difficulties in recovering outlays, agency fees or commission - can ask BIMCO to intervene on their behalf with a view to retrieving the outstanding balance.

The BIMCO Intervention Service is exclusive to owner, broker & agency members.

Provides information on the standing and repute of prospective business partners, enabling members to make more informed decisions before committing themselves.

This is one of the services exclusively available to owner, broker and agency members.

Fake invoices

Members in receipt of any questionable invoices are asked to send them to BIMCO for evaluation. Examples of these are then shared with owner, broker and agency members to help them remain vigilant and aware of common practices.
