A 2 mile long channel, dredged to 15.5 m (501) over a width of 180 m and marked by leading lights and pairs of light buoys, leads from Odessa Bay into the harbour basin. Request for permission to enter the port should be sent at least 2 hours in advance; vessels intending to leave must request permission to do so 30 minutes prior to estimated departure. Vessels will normally obtain permission to enter or leave any time day and night, provided that visibility is more than 2 miles.
